The Beginning
My passion for English began long before I stepped into a classroom. I've always loved literature, the way stories, ideas and language shape how we think and understand the world. I was fortunate to have an exceptional English teacher who inspired me not only to appreciate literature, but to believe in the impact a great teacher can have on a student's future.
The Vocation
After many years teaching in schools I recognised a challenge that too many students face. Despite having the ability to achieve excellent results, many simply don't receive the individual support, confidence or exam guidance they need to reach their full potential. Helping students unlock abilities and achieve grades they once thought were out of reach is the most rewarding part of my work.
The Next Chapter
I founded NL Tutoring to provide the personalised support that is often difficult to achieve in a traditional classroom. By combining my experience as a qualified English teacher and current AQA GCSE examiner, I help students understand not only the subject, but exactly what examiners are looking for when awarding marks.
The Approach
I don't simply teach English. I teach students how to think like successful GCSE students. Every lesson follows a clear framework designed to build confidence, strengthen subject knowledge and develop independent thinkers. My aim isn't to create students who rely on a tutor forever. It's to equip them with the skills, strategies and self-belief to succeed on their own.
